The gear

I am convinced that the one topic most motorcycle riders are interested about (other than actually riding) is gear. I mean, if you were going on a trip, what would you be planning (other than the itinerary)? EXACTLY! You would be planning WHAT to bring along! So this page is dedicated to the gear that we will be packing for the ride.

Our list can be divided into several sections: personal protection, spares, maintenance, tools, first aid, daily needs and other essentials. Here are the details:

Personal protection

  • Full face helmet
  • Riding jacket
  • Riding pants (jeans at a minimum)
  • Riding gloves
  • Riding boots (covered shoes with ankle protection at a minimum)

Spares

  • two spark plugs
  • one front and two rear inner tire tubes
  • one spare brake light bulb

Maintenance

  • chain lube
  • gear oil
  • engine oil

Tools

  • basic tool kit
  • tire irons
  • hand/foot pump
  • duct tape
  • luggage straps

First aid (at least two kits)

  • sterile gauze pads
  • compression bandages
  • cloth tape
  • plasters
  • non-latex gloves
  • antiseptic wash
  • antiseptic cream
  • tweezers
  • scissors
  • aspirin, charcoal and diarrhea pills
  • water

Daily needs

  • T-shirts, shorts and underpants
  • Slippers/sandles
  • Many pairs of socks
  • Small towel
  • Personal toiletteries

Other essentials

  • Drinking water
  • Power snacks
  • Passport (with at least six months validity)
  • Touch n Go card
  • Cash
  • Mobile phone
  • Walkie talkies

Now this list might look deceivingly long but it is in fact a rather short list. I have intentionally left out the non-essential items like camera, notebook, GPS and other things like that. However, the things that are listed are essential. So THAT is what we will be bringing along.
